Recipe of Ameens Masoor Dal
Masoor Ki Daal 1 cup Masoor dal 1/2 Onion thinly sliced 3 cloves garlic. Minced or finlely chopped. 1 Medium tomato, chopped. 1 Jalopeno sliced in half( or any green peper ) 1/4 tsp. Mustard seed 1/8 tsp. Cumin seed. 1 tsp Coriander+cumin powder. 3 tbs. oil 1/8 tsp. Turmeric 1/2 tsp Paprika( or red chilli powder ) a few curry leaves. salt to taste cilantro to garnish Method: Heat Oil in a non stick pan. Add mustard seed. After seeds stard crackling, lower heat and add cumin seed. Add sliced onions. stir for a min or two. Add garlic. stir. Add tomato. add 1/4 tsp salt and stir for about 2 min. Add turmeric. stir. Add Paprika. stir. let it fry for 2 min. Add Coriander+cumin poweder. stir. Add curry leaves. Keep stirring until you see the oil separation from the masala. Add Masoor dal. Stir to coat the masala. Fry for about 5 min, constantly stirring. Add water to cover the dal. Stir. Add salt. Put the lid and lower the flame. Cook for 10 Mins. Check if is cooked. If not add l'l water and cook for 5 more mins. Check if the dal is cooked and very li'l moisture is remaining.
