Directions | How to make Channa Dhal Paayasam
 
Pressure the channa dhal so that when you touch it seems mashy but dont mash it.In a pan add some water and melt the jaggery .when all the pieces are melted drain the syrup to remove any dirt and boil it again into a one string consistency.Then in a nonstick pan add some ghee fry the cashewnuts and raisins and keep it aside.In the same pan,add the cooked dhal and jaggery and the remaining ghee and stir it constantly for some 10 minutes so that all mix together.Now add a pinch of cardomom powder.Add the thin coconut milk and let it boil in a medium flame for 10-15 minutes. when the paayasam becomes little thicker add the thick coconut milk and let it simmer for another 5 minutes in a low flame.After that add the fried raisins and off the stove.(To make coconut milk,take two cups of freshly grated coconut ,add little warm water and grind it to a smooth paste and extract to get the thick milk. To the same coconut residue add 1 cup of water and extract to get the thin milk.)
