Description: Dum aloo Kashmiri is an extremely delicious main course dish which is actually potatoes cooked in rich spicy yoghurt gravy.

Recipe of Dum Aloo Kashmiri

Garlic Paste 1/2 Tablespoons
Garam Masala Pdr 1/2 Tablespoons
Oil 1 Tablespoons
Fennel Pdr 1 Tablespoons
Turmeric Powder 1/2 Tablespoons
Red Chilli Powder 1/2 Tablespoons
Salt To Taste
Cardamom 2-3 Numbers
Cumin Seeds 1/2 Tablespoons
Cloves 2-3 Numbers
Coriander Seeds 1 Tablespoons
Ginger Pdr 1/4 Tablespoons
Coriander Leaves Garnish 1 Springs
Curd 100 Grams
Baby Potato 200 Grams


  1. Boil the potatoes and peel them properly. Now prick the peeled potatoes all over with a forkheat oil add cumin ,garam masala whole ,chopped garlic mix all spice pdrs with little water and add to the mixture . Mix curd, Simmeradd potatoes  for about 20-25 minutes and your Kashmiri dum aloo dish is ready to be served.
  2.  I added little pdr of fried cashew nuts for my own variotion , since one has to develop taste for this recipe you may want to add tomatoes

Chef - how do you eat such hot food - fire hot and chilli hot? Looks awesome but I might lighten up on the spices for my family - not used to too much heat! Great recipe. Thanks

Good recipe but the video shows "Coriander powder" but the recipe underneath says "Coriander seeds." I have used coriander powder and it has come out well. Thanks. I like the recipes in this site from Chef Sanjay Thumma.
