Recipe of Ek Handi Ek Dal Chawal (served with Palida)
DAL: 1. Boil Dal with a pinch of Haldi (Do not make it very soft) 2. Strain the water and keep it aside 3. Take Oil in a pan, add jeera, whole garam masala, onion and fry it till onion is transparent. 4. Add green chillies and tomatoes, Saute for 2 or 3 minutes 5. Add the drained dal, Haldi and Coriander powder, salt , Lemon juice. Stir fry for a while then garnish with coriander and mint leaves and keep it aside. RICE: 1. Soak rice for 20 minutes 2. Boil rice with salt and Bay leaves , when par boiled , strain the water. 3. Remove half the rice and put a layer of cooked dal over the rice in the vessel and add back the removed rice over the layer of daal. 4. Pour a little Ghee over it and add mint leaves and whole green chillies. 5. Put on dum for 30 to 35 mins or until done.
