Ingredients used in Apple Jalebi
• Apple - 1-2 numbers.
• All-purpose flour - 1 cup.
• Cinnamon powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Yogurt - 1/2 cup.
• Sugar syrup - 1 cup.
• Oil - to fry.
• Water - as required.
Method:
  • Take a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour, yogurt, and some water and mix it like a thin paste and knead it for 10 minutes. Let it rest for 1 to 2 hours.
  • Take a plate add all-purpose flour, cinnamon powder and mix it.
  • Take one apple and peel the skin and scoop out the seeds and cut them into roundels.
  • Coat the apple pieces in the already prepared flour and cinnamon powder.
  • Dip the coated apple pieces in the jalebi batter and deep fry in the hot oil.
  • Take another pan and prepared sugar syrup.
  • Drain the apple pieces and soak in sugar syrup for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Take them out of the syrup and serve hot with ice cream.

Apple Jalebi

Apple Jalebi is an amazing deep fried fritter soaked in rosy fragrant syrup. Freshly sliced apples coated with flavored flour, deep fried until crisp and golden and glazed with the sweetness of sugar syrup, served hot with frozen cold ice cream is a divine dessert to all the sweet tooth lovers. This is a brilliant variation of the normal Jalebi that most of love to eat. Jalebi is one of the most popular sweet in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

It is a deep fried sweet made from maida flour and then soaked in sugar syrup. Jalebis looks attractive and is tempting to eat as they are bright orange or yellow in colour pretzel shaped and a pleasant shine over. A well made Jalebi has a tart element with a sweet taste is mostly served for auspicious occasions, wedding, festival or birthday parties. It goes extremely well with vanilla ice cream.

Serve Apple Jalebi hot with a cold ice cream, its tickles the palate with a nice crispness from the deep fried apple and chewy texture with crystallized sugary exterior coating. The sugars get partly fermented which adds flavor to the dish. Jalebi is also used as a remedy for headaches in some parts of Pakistan where it is placed in boiling milk and left to stand before eating Indian festivals are incomplete without luscious sweets and scrumptious rich dishes.

As Jalebi is a universal favourite sweet, it is often prepared for festive occasions like Holi, Diwali, Rakha Bhandan etc. It is something which is included in the regular diet of all the people born with a sweet tooth. Most of us love eating apples and one of the popular saying is “An apple a day keep the doctors away”, a very well known saying for all those health conscious and fitness freaks who believe in health is wealth.

Apple is an excellent fruit very delicious, crunchy and packed with enormous rich phyto nutrients. They are the best fruit with sweetest taste and juiciest flesh. Apples were a popular dessert from the time as long ago as 4,500 years back. Apples are widely used in making a variety of desserts such as apple pie, apple crumble, apple crisp, apple strudel and apple cake.

They are often eaten baked or stewed, and they can also be dried and eaten or reconstituted (soaked in water, alcohol or some other liquid) for later use. Puréed apples are generally known as apple sauce. Apples are also made into apple butter and apple jelly. They are also used (cooked) in meat dishes. How to prepare Apple Jalebis:

  1. Apple -             1 no
  2. All-purpose flour -   1 cup
  3. Cinnamon powder - ½ tsp
  4. Yogurt-             ¼ cup
  5. Oil - for deep frying
  6. Sugar syrup -   2 cups
  7. Ice cream -       1 scoop

Directions:

  1. Take a mixing bowl; add all-purpose flour (maida), yogurt and some water and mix well to make a thin paste. Knead for about 10 minutes.
  2. Rest this batter for 1 to 2 hours.
  3. Take a plate, add some all-purpose flour, cinnamon powder, mix and keep aside.
  4. Take an apple, peel the skin and scoop out the seeds and cut them into roundels.
  5. Coat the apple slices with all-purpose flour and cinnamon powder mixture.
  6. Dip the coated apple slices in the Jalebi batter and deep fry in hot oil.
  7. Take another pan and prepare the sugar syrup (one string consistency).
  8. Drain the fried apple slices and soak in sugar syrup for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Take them out of the syrup and serve hot with ice cream of your choice.
