Banana Crumb Muffin is a nice little twist from the regular muffin and is very easy to make to which ripe banana are added  to give an delicious and yummy taste. Muffin generally is an American English dish of baked bread in small portions.

Banana crumb muffin is slightly different from the regular banana bread. Many of these forms are like cakes or cupcakes in shapes although they are not as sweet as a cake and generally lack frosting. Apart from the sweet, there are also savory varieties of muffins like the cornbread muffin.

Sweet, savory, mini or basic muffins make an excellent breakfast or snack. The natural moisture and sweetness in the banana combines well with the flour, eggs, salt, butter and cinnamon etc makes it truly delectable and mouth watering. Traditionally an English muffin in North America is a small, round, flat type of yeast leavened bread almost dusted with cornmeal which is commonly served split horizontally, toasted and buttered.

Banana crumb muffin or any other muffin can be eaten either as a snack on its own or as part of a meal especially for breakfast or at tea time. There are many varieties and flavors of muffins that can be prepared with specific ingredients like blueberries, chocolate chips, cinnamon, lemon, banana, almond etc. Traditionally muffins were toasted in front of an open fire or stove using a toasting fork and are also eaten cold with a hot drink or split and filled similar to a sandwich.

It is said that muffins may well be originated as far back in the 10th century, yet the muffin became fashionable bread during the 18th century. By the beginning of the 19th century there were dozens of muffin factories in existence. Muffins were quick-baking bread and have become a tea-table staple. They are usually split, toasted, buttered and then eaten with a savory or sweet topping such as honey.

For preparing the banana crumb muffin, firstly preheat oven to 375 degree F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 10 muffin cups or line with muffin papers.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepare muffin cups.

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in a tablespoon of butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle topping over muffins. Bake the muffins in preheated oven for about 18 to 20 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean. The Banana crumb muffins are ready to be served.
