CELERY BASMATHI PULAO

Ingredients used in CELERY BASMATHI PULAO
• Garlic - 4 numbers.
• Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoons.
• Salt - to taste.
• Vegetable stock (or) chicken stock - 3 cup.
• Green chilly - 3 numbers.
• Fennel seeds - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Butter - 2 tablespoons.
• Celery - 150 grams.
• Almond - 4 numbers.
• Ghee - 2 tablespoons.
• Fried onions - 1/2 cup.
Method:
  • Heat butter in a pan, add fennel seeds, saute it,
  • Then add chopped celery stems, salt, and saute them again for about a minute.
  • Add celery leaves paste, chopped green chilies, cook it for another 2 minutes.
  • Then even add vegetable stock (or) chicken stock, once the water comes to boil. Put basmati rice (soaked for 30 minutes) and let it cook with closed lid for 3 minutes.
  • Take another pan heat ghee, add slices of garlic and slices of almonds, saute them.
  • Then top it with garlic and almonds, fried onions, and saffron water, and mix it properly with rice.

Serve this hot.

Celery Basmati Pulao or Celery rice is an awesome combination of two main ingredients – celery and basmati rice cooked together with spices giving an alluring aroma to the dish. The zest of celery engulfed into the rice makes it’s very flavorful to eat. This celery rice is not only a very delicious and appetizing dish but also healthy and nutritious to eat. Celery rice is quite easy to prepare, is a one pot meal that can be eaten on its own or with any side dish. A nice pleasant of fresh spices and paste of celery leaves goes in as the seasoning along with the aromatic basmati rice and seasoned with some crunchy golden browned garlic slices, almond slices and browned onions.

Celery Celery along with other popular veggies like carrots, onions and potatoes has become a common household staple food. Celery is a biennial vegetable belonging to the Umbelliferae family, whose other members include carrots, fennel, parsley and dill. The celery stalks have a crunchy texture and is delicate having a mild salty taste. The stalk in the center is called the heart and is tender while the celery leaves are finely divided and light to dark green in color. The leaves of celery are less succulent but full of flavors.

Celery sticks makes a popular addition to various salads and many cooked dishes mainly for its crunchy texture and distinctive flavor. Traditionally the cooked celery stalks are eaten with cream or butter.  Celery is a wonderful herb and now a days has become a common household staple along with other veggies. It’s crunchy texture and distinctive flavour makes it a popular addition to salad and many other delicious recipes. Celery is available almost throughout the year but the best taste and quality of celery can be enjoyed during the summer months.

Celery is also valued for its excellent health benefits. It provides an excellent source of vitamin C and fiber, and is a very good source of folic acid, potassium and vitamin B1 and B6. Celery is one of the very common and effective plant that help in curing various health disorders. The green leaves, stem and the bulbous root of celery are all extremely rich and makes it a very important medicinal plant.

The presence of the essential oils makes celery special. It contains balanced minerals, vitamins and nutrients and its oil has strong smell due to concentrations of plant hormones. Celery is also used in aromatherapy and other traditional way of healing like Ayurveda. The whole plant is said to be gently stimulating and nourishing, it also acts as a digestive remedy and liver stimulant. A tincture can be used as a diuretic in hypertension and urinary disorders.

Basmati Rice Basmati rice is a long grain variety of rice, highly aromatic and have grown for many centuries in the specific geographical area, mainly at the Himalayan foot hills of Indian sub-continent. This rice is richly blessed with characteristics extra long slender grains that elongate at least twice its original size with a characteristics soft and fluffy texture when cooked. It is absolutely delicious to taste, superior aroma and has distinct flavours. Owning to its unique characteristics the “ scented Pearl” lends a touch of class that can transform even the most ordinary meal into a gourmet’s delight.

How to prepare Celery Basmati Pulao:

  

Ingredients:

  1. Celery                                      -       150 g
  2. Butter                                      -       2 tb
  3. Fennel seeds                            -       ½ tsp
  4. Green chilly                             -       3 nos
  5. Vegetable stock (or) chicken stock   -       3 cups
  6. Salt                                          -       to taste
  7. Turmeric                                  -       pinch
  8. Garlic, sliced                            -       4 nos
  9. Almonds, sliced                               -       4 nos
  10. Ghee                                        -       2 tbsp
  11. Fried onions                            -       ½ cups

Directions:

  1. Heat butter in a pan add fennel seeds, add chopped celery stems, salt, and sauté them, add celery leaves paste, chopped green chillies.
  2. Cook it for 2 minutes, and vegetable stock (or) chicken stock, once the water comes to boil, add basmati rice (soaked for 30 minutes) cover it with lid and let it cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Take another pan, heat ghee add slices of garlic and slices of almonds, sauté them.
  4. Top it with Garlic and almond slices add fried onions, and saffron, and mix it.
  5. Serve this hot. Celery Basmati rice is a simple rice preparation packed with outstanding flavours and rice compliments well with the crunchy celery stalks and leaves. Do try it yourself to believe and taste the uniqueness of the dish.
