Ingredients used in Cheese Adai Dosa
• Asafoetida - 1 pinch.
• Salt - to taste.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Red chilly - 3 numbers.
• Rice - 1 cup.
• Chana daal - 1 tablespoon.
• Toor daal - 1 tablespoon.
• Green chili chopped - 2 numbers.
• Coconut grated - 1/4 cup.
• Cheese - 1/4 cup.
• Oil - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • In a bowl add toor daal, chana daal, rice, red chilly, curry leaves, water, wash all ingredients, and drain the water, and add salt, asafoetida, add water, and soak it over night (or) 4 hours.
  • Then put it into the blender and make a coarse paste. Adai batter is blended fine the consistency of dosa batter.
  • Heat griddle and pour the batter on it and add oil and chopped green chilly, grated coconut, and cheese put the lid on and let it cook for 2 minutes and serve this hot.

The vital components of stuffing the adai with some fresh grated coconut, green chillies and melting cheese which circulates in your mouth while eating is truly heavenly, alluring and is the highlight of this dosa. Kids would go bonkers for this dish craving for more.

Adai dosa is a popular south Indian pancake made with lentil and rice. This is considered to be the most nutritious among all dosas as it has all the goodness of lentils & rice. Adai is a delicacy of Tamilnadu and a healthy breakfast dish as lentils are a good source of protein and dietary fiber. Who would not like the creamy, buttery taste of cheese and fresh milky coconut cream to be added into an adai.

Kids love eating lots of cheese stuffed in their sandwiches or spread over the pizza, so you can also do wonder to tempt them in eating a crispy adai dosa rolled in melted cheese and coconut. The thought itself is addictive and enticing. Adai Adai is also known as paruppu adai in southern India. It makes a complete wholesome nutritive breakfast especially good for growing kids. The rice and lentils are soaked in water for few hours and then ground to a coarse batter.

To this fresh tender curry leaves are added which actually enhances the flavour of the adai dosa. Lentils In India, dal is a part of our daily meal. Vegetarians mainly depend on this as it’s a rich source of protein. Dal is included in many ways in our daily meal. From breakfast to lunch, snack to dinner, they are a number of dishes where dals are included. Sambar, lentil stew, is one of the most common dish that is prepared daily in every south Indian family or a simple flavourful Dal tadka is a popular north Indian dish.

Adai made with a mix of split and husked chickpea (chana dal) is a very nutritious dal, low in fat, high in protein and usually added to quick snacks, salads and delicious main courses. Chana dal is extensively used in Indian cooking. Chana dal is combined with greens or vegetables like ridge gourd and squashes to make mouth-watering side dishes. Chana dal goes very with spinach. Chana dal has a nice taste, nutty and meaty flavour.

Tur dal is another important ingredient that is used in the Adai. It is one of the most prominent lentils easily available and exhibits a thick gelatinous meaty consistency. The split lentil (tur dal) is slightly sweet, having nutty flavor, easily digestible and amalgamates easily with other spices quickly. In Indian cooking, dal is the main accompaniment that can be served with any type of rice be it plain rice or jeera rice etc, or Indian flat bread like roti, chapatti, naan etc as it provides the requisite proteins for a balanced meal.

Toor dal or Tur dal is staple food in Indian cuisine. It is the main protein compliment for vegetarian diet when paired with a starchy food like rice and is a dish that is prepared every day in most of the Indian homes. Dal is a great way to bring India flavours into your homes.

How to make Cheese Adai Dosa: Ingredients:

Tur dal                                    -           1 tbsp

Chana dal                             -           1 tbsp

Cheese                                  -           ¼ cup

Coconut, grated                   -           ¼ cup

Curry leaves                         -           2 sprigs

Green chillies, chopped     -           2 nos

Hing                                       -           pinch

Red chillies                           -           3 nos

Rice                                        -           1 cup

Salt                                         -           to taste

Directions:

Take a bowl and add tur dal, chana dal, rice, red chilli, curry water and water. Wash all ingredients once and drain the water. Add salt, pinch of hing and add water and the ingredients are just soaked. Soak it overnight or for 4 hours. Blend the ingredients to make a coarse paste. For making Adai dosa, the batter should be blended fine like the consistency of dosa batter. Heat a griddle and pour the batter and spread it to a thin pancake. Add little oil on the sides and center of the adai dosa.

Sprinkle some finely chopped green chillies, grated coconut and cheese and cover the adai dosa with a lid to cook for 2 minutes until done. Serve this hot. This is an excellent Cheese Adai dosa, nutritious, healthy and a wholesome meal to kids. Apart from its fantastic taste, Cheese adai dosai is high in fiber and low in cholesterol. Chana dal can be a good food for people with diabetes because it has a low glycemic index. Fresh coconut and green chillies seasoning adds aroma and stimulates the appetite. Cheese elevates the taste of the dish.
