Summer!! Ooooph….the terrible heat to bear and thirst to quench, then what will you immediately look for?? Yes, a chilling, cool, luscious drink or beverage that refreshes and rejuvenates you back to life.

Indian drink or Indian beverage is a popular part of the Indian cuisine and has an array of drinks that are both unique and refreshing. According to Indian ethnic culture, drinking Alcohol was considered bad hence there were only few local alcoholic traditional drinks prepared with locally available ingredients.

Indian beverages often referred as Sherbets which are non-alcoholic and actually are prepared to beat the heat of the sultry Indian summer like:

Popular Indian Sherbets/ Juices include: Nimbu Paani, Tender coconut water, Aam Panna, Mosambi Sherbet (Sweet lime juice), Black Grape Sherbet, Jal Jeera, Chhanch (Buttermilk), Adrak Lassi (Ginger buttermilk), Kokum Sherbet etc.

Nimbu Paani and Tender coconut water are two most Indian summer drinks that are most demanded for, economical and easily available. The first is Lemonade with an Indian twist spiced and blended with natural ingredients that packs a real flavor kick! It is commonly known as Nimbu ka Sharbat in India while the second is the most natural form of drink that is fresh, easily available in summer, naturally sweet without adding any sweeteners, artificial flavours or colours.

It is the best healthiest drink to quench thirst and beat the summer heat. There are other types of Indian drinks like the Punjabi Lassi, Milkshakes, Falooda, etc. Milkshakes is a delicious, lip smacking and healthy refreshing drink can also be better opted for than the sugar laden soda pop or the aerated soft drinks. High in nutrition and calcium, a good drink for the kids and health conscious people too.

The variety of Milkshakes includes: Apple milkshake, Banana milkshake, carrot milkshake, chocolate milkshake, orange milkshake, pineapple milkshake, strawberry banana milkshake and the popular Indian beverage called the Badam Milk or Almond milk, a soothing energy giving drink and rich in vitamin E and nutritious too.

Other Popular Indian drinks: Tea and filter coffee are essential Indian beverages that are taken in almost all homes in India especially during the winter as they provide warmth to the body. Tea is also known as Chai, the most common form of drink in India, especially in North India.

As the winters are in extreme conditions in Northern parts of India, Tea is available anywhere one goes. Tea can be prepared in many ways using spices called the Masala Chai, Elaichi Chai (green cardamom tea) or Ginger tea.  Coffee is a popular drink commonly consumed in the Southern States of India, especially the filter coffee.
