Next add in some Chicken broth or Vegetable stock which pairs well with bacons and cook on medium high heat for few minutes. Add some dried oregano, thyme, and little salt and stir well. Add 2 cans of canned black beans (which is drained and rinsed well before use). Mix well and add 1 can of water. Turn the heat to medium high and cook well. Mash half of the black beans with a potato masher as it is cooking. This makes the soup thick and dense. Turn the heat to medium low and cook the soup for about 20 mins. Add in some seasoning with black pepper, cumin and little salt and mix well. Cook till the right consistency and taste the soup and adjust the seasoning as per your taste and choice.
Black bean soup goes well with a delicious green onions, red chilli paste and lime juice relish. Take few finely chopped green onions, a spoon full of red chilli paste or sambal and some lime juice and mix well. Keep aside.
