i saw this video its very nice i learnt the art how to stop tears while cutting onions,initially i was cutting onion into two parts and after sometime i was going kitchen to chop to stop my tears ha ha ha,thanks

I want to make a correction wot u call as onion root are actually reduced stem.....onion is basically a modification of stem...its underground stem callled bulb.

for round onion slices try cutting without peeling the onion. This holds the nice circular shape you want. This is more work but you get the unbroken round onion slices.

Folks...
The real reason behind this is an enzymatic reaction that catalyzes the formation of the chemical compound. The best way to deal with this problem is to place the whole onion into a fridge for a couple of minutes before cutting. This will slow down the enzymatic reaction (because low temperatures decreased the rate of an enzyme reaction) and thus as you cut the onion, you should not 'cry'. :)
