Paneer Satay with Peanut Sauce is a very simple yet delectable snack to prepare. It is made with Paneer which is cut into long slices, marinated in a spice mix of coconut milk, peanut paste and the juice extracted from the paste made with a mix of coriander roots, green chillies, lemon grass, kaffir leaves or lime leaves, galangal, ginger, and garlic, grilled or pan fried until light brown in colour. Serve hot with peanut sauce.

Satay Satay is a very popular Southeast Asian snack especially prepared in the Indonesian and Malaysian cuisines. It is an excellent and yummy dish of marinated, bite-size pieces of meat, skewered, barbecued and often served with a peanut flavoured dipping sauce. The most popular satay is the chicken satay or pork satay but beef is also used. For the vegetarian version, it is either tofu or paneer.

Typically, to make a satay, the meat is cut into thin strips or small bite size pieces and then marinated in a flavorful and spicy mixture of herbs and spices. The meat is then skewered onto wooden sticks also known as satay sticks and grilled over charcoal, barbeque or on the grill pan. The satay is traditionally served with satay sauce which is a fresh home-made peanut sauce.

Peanut Sauce Peanut sauce is commonly known by various other names such as satay sauce, bumbu kacang, sambal kacang or pecel. This sauce is widely used in Indonesian, Malaysian, Thai, Chinese and African cuisines. The key ingredients that go into making this sauce are ground roasted peanuts, coconut milk, soya sauce, galangal, garlic, coriander and cumin powder, chilli peppers, lemon grass etc.

A good peanut sauce is neither too thick nor too watery. It is a complete balance of sweet, spicy and sour flavors. In Chinese cooking, the satay sauce is often used on grilled meat while in Singapore, the peanut sauce is also used as a dipping sauce or eaten with rice, vermicelli. Do try this amazing vegetarian version of making the Paneer satay with peanut sauce. Goes well as an appetizer or starter to start a great meal!
