Description
Its a dhal made with toor dal (sambar dal).It goes well with rice, can also eat with chappathis.

Recipe of sambar dhal

Ingredient Name Quantity Unit
curry leaves  few
asafoetida (hing)  pinch
castor oil  1/4 Teaspoons
green chilly  1 Numbers
turmeric  1/4 Teaspoons
jeera  1/4 Tablespoons
tomato  1 Numbers
red chilly  2 Numbers
garlic pods  4 Numbers
shallots (small onion)  10 Numbers
toor dhal  2 Cup
corriander leaves  few
split channa dal(kadalaparpu)  1 Teaspoons
urud dal  1 Teaspoons
mustard  1 Teaspoons

Directions
Cook dhal with shallots -5, garlic- 2, jeera, red chilly, turmeric,tomato and castor oil with enough water. Keep this in cooker for 3 sounds. If u want u can takeout the water for rasam. Finally fry in pan split channa dal,urud dal,mustard seeds,curry leaves,add the rest of the onions amp; garlic,greenchilly,asafoetida.Pour this in the above dhal. Garnish with corriander leaves.
