Ingredients used in SIRIYALI
• Moong dal - 1 cup.
• Green chilies - 2-3 numbers.
• Salt - to taste.
• Cooking soda - 1 pinch.
• Lime juice - 1 tea spoon.
• Oil - 2 teaspoons.
• Dry red chillies - 2 numbers.
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Fenugreek seeds - 1 pinch.
• Ginger(chopped) - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Curry leaves - 1 spring.
• Onion - 1 number.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Tamarind juice - 3/4 cup.
• Sugar - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Take a mixie jar and add soaked moong dal, green chilies and blend into smooth paste, transfer into a bowl.
  • To it add salt, cooking soda, lime juice and mix nicely, Transfer into an aluminum tray.
  • Place in steamer and steam for 8 minutes. Transfer into chopping board and cut into pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add dry red chillies, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, green chillies and saute it.
  • Add ginger, curry leaves, slices of onions, salt, turmeric powder and saute it.
  • To it add tamarind juice, little water, little sugar and boil it.
  • To it add steamed moong dal pieces, coriander leaves and mix nicely, transfer into serving plate.

Now siriyali is ready to serve.
