Ugadi pachadi is a special traditional dish reflecting all the six flavors (shadhruchulu) of the ingredients. The six flavors are the neem buds or flowers (for bitterness), Jaggery (sweetness), Raw mango (vagaru), Tamarind juice (sourness), Chillies (hotness) and Salt

Recipe of Ugadi Pachadi

Ingredient Name Quantity Unit
Tamarind Juice 1 Cup
Jaggery 1/2 Cup
Mango Raw 1 Numbers
Neem Flowers 1 Bunch
Coconut Dry 1/2 Numbers
Salt pinch

Directions

In a bowl add tamarind juice, jaggery juice dissolved in water, cut mango into small pieces, coconut also into small pieces, add these to the tamarind and jaggery juice, then neem flowers, salt, if required chillies green mashed mix well.this can have like juice on Ugadi day its called as ugadi pachadi.

Most Indian stores are selling frozen or dried neem flowers, & I got some for my pacchadi. What is the ugadi pacchadi without these flowers :)

Its kind of very difficult to get neem leaves in US , so as an alternative u can use methi powder / kakarakaya (karela) pieces in it.:)
