Ingredients used in Balchao
• Oil - 2 cup.
• Ground turmeric - 1 teaspoons.
• Kashmiri chillies - 10 numbers.
• Peppercorns - 1 teaspoons.
• Cummin seeds - 1 teaspoons.
• Green chillies, seeded and chopped - 4-5 numbers.
• Ginger, finely chopped - 1 oz.
• Chopped onions - 1 cup.
• Prawns (shelled). - 250 grams.
• Minced handful of curry leaves - to taste.
• Vinegar - to taste.
• Salt - to taste.
  1. Grind together the cumin, peppercorns and chillies with the vinegar. Mix in the turmeric.
  2. Heat the oil and add the curry leaves and fry until brown. Add the prawns, masala, garlic, ginger and green chillies. Simmer for 10 minutes or so.

What is onion for? Recipe directions do not say what to do with 1 cup chopped onions.

Hi Sanjay, Congratulatioins! heard good news from Anita. Anyway this Balchao receipe is meant for Prawns and you wrote that main ingredient is"pork". let me know which is right?
