Ingredients used in Brinjal-dry split green peas curry
• Tender brinjal - 2 numbers.
• Dried split green peas - 1/4th cup.
• Onion(thinly sliced) - 1/4th cup.
• Ginger-garlic paste - 3/4th teaspoons.
• Turmeric - 1 pinch.
• Green chillies(finely chopped) - 1 or 2 numbers.
• Ginger(finely chopped0 - 1/2 inch piece.
• Garlic(peeled and slightly crushed) - 3 clove.
• Coriander powder - 1 teaspoons.
• Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Chilli powder - 1/8th teaspoons.
• Salt - to taste.
• Oil - 1 tablespoons.
• Curry leaves - few leaf.
• Mustard - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Channa dal - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Urad dal - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Cilantro(chopped finely) - 2 tablespoons.
1).Soak dried and split green peas for 2hours and cook in microwave with 2-3tbsp of water for 2-3 minutes and leave it aside. 2).thinly slice the brinjal (long brinjals which we get in indian stores)into 1inch pieces and leave them in salt water to prevent oxidising. 3).Now heat oil in a nonstick pan and do the tadka/seasoning with channa dal,urad dal,mustard,cumin,garlic,curry leaves.once done add chopped ginger,green chillies,cooked and drained green peas and saute for few seconds. 4).Now add onion ,turmeric and saute for a while.add 1/2 tsp salt. 5),Now add the brinjal pieces,1/2tsp of salt,mix well,saute for 3-4 minutes openly.Now add chilli powder,mix well and cover the lid and cook till done on low flame for about 10min or less than 10min if brinjal is tender. 6).once done,add cumin powder,coriander powder,( or sambar powder(optional)).slowly mix it and add chopped cilantro and cover the lid and switch off the stove .Allow it to stand for 10miutes.serve hot with rice or roti.
