Ingredients used in Carrot Rasam
• Salt - to taste.
• Sugar - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Jeera - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Coriander seeds - 1 1/2 teaspoons.
• Peppercorns - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Tomato - 1/2 .
• Onion - 1/2 .
• Dry red chillies - 6 numbers.
• Toor dhal - 1/2 cup.
• Carrots - 2 numbers.
• Garlic pods - 4 numbers.
• Cilantro - .
• Tamarind - 1 piece.
Pressure cook chopped carrots,onion,tomato,dry red chilli,jeera,coriander seeds,peppercorns,sugar,tamarind with dhal and pour enough water.Cook it for 5 whistles.Let the pressure down and let it cool and bit.Put all of this in a blender and blend it with enough water and salt. For tempering-Take a pan with oil and little ghee add chopped garlic,mustard seeds,curry leaves and once mustard splutters add the blended rasam into this.Bring it to a boil and add cilantro. This yummy and flavorful dish is good as a soup or you can eat it with rice.Kids will enjoy it too.
