Ingredients used in Dal Palak
• Ginger root (adrak) - 1 piece.
• Green chillies (hari mirch) - 2 numbers.
• Onion - 1 numbers.
• Tomatoes - 2 numbers.
• Spinach (palak) - 500 grams.
• Yellow split gram lentils - 1/2 cup.
• Coriander powder (pisa dhania) - 2 tablespoons.
• Coriander powder (pisa dhania) - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Cooking oil - 3 tablespoons.
Method:


Wash the lentils well, and let them soak in warm water for atleast 45 minutes.

Wash the spinach well to get out any dirt. Chop spinach by discarding the stems.
Heat the cooking oil in a pot. Add in the chopped onions and saute them well until golden brown.
Now strain the lentils from the water. And add the lentils to the spinach and also add all other ingredients and fry for 5 minutes.
Now add in frac12; cup of water, mix and cover on medium heat and let the lentils cook. Once the lentils are done and soft, mash the lentils slightly by pressing against the sides of the pot with a wooden spoon or spatula.
