Rice-2 cups, water-10 cups, Red gram dal- 1 cup, Tamarind-Lemon size, Hirekayi (ridge gourd)-1/2 k.g. washed and cut into one inch pieces.Salt to taste. Grated coconut-2 tbsp, Oil- 2 tbsp, Mustard seeds- 1 tsp, Hing- a pinch, Curry leaves-10
1.cook rice with 4 cups of water.
2.cook dal in 5 cups of water.
3.soak tamarind in 1 cup of water.
4.Add Hirekayi pieces to cooked dal and continue cooking till vegetables are cooked., add tamarind water, add salt, add dry roasted and powdered ingredients
5. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves and grated coconut and pour it to the dal and vegetable mixture.
