Dry Fish and Brinjal Curry

Ingredients used in Dry Fish and Brinjal Curry
• Dry fish(pieces) - 1 cup.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Onion (chopped) - 2 numbers.
• Salt - to taste.
• Green chilies - 2 numbers.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Tomato (chopped) - 1 cup.
• Red chili powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Coriander powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Cumin powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Slender eggplant (pieces) - 150 grams.
• Water - as required.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan, add dry fish pieces and saute it for 4 minutes and place in water to clean dust.
  • Heat little more oil to the same pan, add onions, salt, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and saute it.
  • Add dry fish and saute it, later add tomato, red chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and saute it.
  • Add slender brinjal pieces, water and cook it for 5-8 minutes with the lid on it. Lastly, add sprinkle coriander leaves.

Now ready to serve with rice, roti, and pulka.

This dish is served with rice or roti. This is an extremely delicious curry preparation where dry fish pieces are cooked with brinjal in onion tomato gravy. They blend well and is slightly spicy to eat. This curry preparation is easy to prepare and is not a dry curry dish. The juices from the tomatoes, brinjal mixed with spices and fresh herbs infuses its flavors into the dry fish making its highly delectable to eat. Often people avoid or don’t like cooking dry fish as it smells heavy. But the ultimate product is truly worth eating and enjoying.

DRY FISH AND BRINJAL CURRY

Recipe: Dry Fish and Brinjal Curry

Ingredients:

  1. Dry Fish                         -        2 nos
  2. Oil                                  -        2 tbsp
  3. Onion, chopped             -        ½ cup
  4. Salt                                 -        to taste
  5. Green chillies                 -        2 nos
  6. Ginger garlic paste         -        ½ tsp
  7. Turmeric powder            -        ¼ tsp
  8. Tomato, chopped            -        1 cup
  9. Red chilli powder            -        ½ tsp
  10. Coriander powder           -        ½ tsp
  11. Cumin powder               -        ¼ tsp
  12. Slender Eggplant            -        1 cup
  13. Water                              -        1 cup
  14. Coriander leaves             -        ½ bunch

Directions:

  1. Cut dry fish into length sizes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add dry fish pieces and sauté for 4 minutes and then soak in water to clean dust.
  3. Heat little more oil in the same pan, add onions, salt, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and sauté well.
  4. Drain off the water and add dry fish pieces and mix well.
  5. Add tomato, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and mix.
  6. Add slender brinjal pieces, water and cook for 5-8 minutes with lid on.
  7. Lastly sprinkle some coriander leaves and serve with rice, roti or phulkas.
