Jhaal muri is a popular street food snack of Kolkata. Jhaal means spices and muri are puffed rice. Every elder has at least tasted once in lifetime during the mesmerizing days of college or schools.

Jhal muri, Kids favorite Indian street food evening tea time snacks recipes, jhaal muri, jhal muri (spicy puffed rice) recipe is easy & delicious munching favorite evening tea time snacks combined with puffed rice, veggies, spices, mustard oil and sauce. Bhelpuri of Mumbai is also very close to jhaal muri. Serve immediately jhal muri in a paper cone and enjoy eating.

Jhal Muri - Spicy Puffed Rice Salad

Ingredients used in Jhal Muri - Spicy Puffed Rice Salad
• Puffed rice - 250 grams.
• Tomato chopped - 2 numbers.
• Onion chopped (small) - 2 numbers.
• Black salt - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Coconut pieces - 2 teaspoons.
• Chilli powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Garam masala - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Chat masala - 1 tablespoon.
• Peanuts - 2 tablespoons.
• Sev - 2 tablespoons.
• Bengal gram - 2 tablespoons.
• Cucumber - 3 tablespoons.
• Ginger (small pieces) - 1 tea spoon.
• Green chilly chopped - 2 numbers.
• Coriander chopped - 1 bunch.
• Sweet chutney - 2 tablespoons.
• Lemon - 1 number.
• Mustard oil - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
Method:
  • Take a bowl add fried Bengal gram, sev,peanuts, chat masala, garam masala, chilly powder, salt and black salt.
  • Then add chopped onion, tomato, coconut pieces, cucumber, a pinch of ginger, green chilli and coriander. Mix all these ingredients properly.
  • Add mustard oil (optional).
  • After mixing well, add puffed rice, sweet chutney, lime juice. Mix perfectly.
  • Garnish with sev, peanuts and chopped coriander.

Serve this Jhal muri immediately. in a paper cone with a lime wedge.
