Ingredients used in KUMBAKONNAM KADAPPA
• Red chilies - 2 numbers.
• Cloves - 4 cloves.
• Cardamom - 2 numbers.
• Cinnamon - 2 numbers.
• Bay leaf - 2 numbers.
• Roasted bengal gram - 1 tea spoon.
• Poppy seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Fennel seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Dry coconut - 1/4 cup.
• Oil - 4 teaspoons.
• Garlic - 5 numbers.
• Green chilies - 5 numbers.
• Onions - 2 cups.
• Salt - to taste.
• Curry leaves - 1 spring.
• Turmeric - 1 pinch.
• Potatoes(chopped) - 1 number.
• Tomatoes - 1/2 number.
• Chana dal paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Ghee - 1 tea spoon.
• Cashew nuts - 8 numbers.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 tea spoon.
• Lime juice - 1/2 number.
Method:
  • In a hot pan add red chilies, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf, roasted Bengal gram, poppy seeds, fennel seeds, dry coconut and roast it.
  • After roasting transfer into a mixie jar and crush it.
  • In a hot pressure pan add oil, garlic, onions, salt and saute it.
  • After few minutes add curry leaves, turmeric powder, chopped potatoes, water, chopped tomatoes and cover it.
  • Cook it for 3 whistles.
  • After 4 whistles add crushed powder mix it and boil it.
  • Then add chana dal paste, and saute it.
  • Simmer it for few minutes and add lime juice to it.
  • Take a pan add ghee, cashew nuts, curry leaves and saute it.
  • Then transfer into the pressure pan and sprinkle coriander leaves on it.
  • Switch off the flame and transfer into the serving bowl.

Delicious kadappa dish is ready and serve with idli or dosa.

kadappa is a dish from district of AP kadappa. then where kumbakonam comes here. this is a type of kuruma kadappa recipe is entirely different?
