SOM TAM VEGETARIAN-THAI GREEN PAPAYA SALAD

Ingredients used in SOM TAM VEGETARIAN-THAI GREEN PAPAYA SALAD
• Chopped coriander - 1/2 bunch.
• Chilly paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Soya sauce - 1 tablespoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Tomato - 1 number.
• Beans - 5 numbers.
• Carrot (julians) - 1 number.
• Shallots - 5 numbers.
• Garlic - 5 cloves.
• Ginger - 1 piece.
• Raw papaya (julians) - 1 cup.
• Honey - 1 tablespoon.
• Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • First, peel and cut the raw papaya thin like noodles.
  • Take ginger, garlic, shallots, crush in a mortar pestle.
  • In a bowl add carrot, beans, crushed ginger, garlic, shallots paste, add thin slices of tomato, papaya, salt, Soya sauce, red chilly paste, chopped coriander, honey, lemon juice, and crush the vegetables.
  • Then add crushed peanuts and mix it well ready the salad.

Dear Varchef, I have to say this the sauce you add is Dark Soy Sauce which is not the same as soy sauce! Som Tum can be made hundred of way but all of them never ever add Ginger in the salad! Never add Honey too! Or it's not Som Tum Salad!

no fish sauce nor dry shrimp so i added ginger to spice it up tried it with out ginger didn't like and lot of us don't have palm sugar so honey, try this you will like it but don't compare on with shrimp and fish sauce Hmmmm

Experience some new flavour is great because there is no limit in the cooking world. But, at least, when we change/turn/add extra ingredients away from the original recipe...like this dish...shouldn't we name it "fusion" ?
