Ingredients used in Sprout Potato Rice
• Store bought biryani masala or garam masala - 2 tablespoons.
• Coriander powder - 1 teaspoons.
• Cumin powder - 1 teaspoons.
• Chilli powder - 0.5 teaspoons.
• Oil - 2 teaspoons.
• Cinnamon sticks - 4 numbers.
• Bay leaf - 2 numbers.
• Tomatoes - 1 numbers.
• Onions - 1 numbers.
• Cumin seeds - 2 teaspoons.
• Green chillies - 3 numbers.
• Potatoes - 2 numbers.
• Greem gram dhal sprout - 1.5 cup.
• Basmati rice - 2 cup.
• Cilantro - to taste.
• Salt - to taste.
• Ginger garlic paste - 2 teaspoons.
• Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoons.
• Butter - 1 tablespoons.
Method:
1. Soak the Basmati rice for 1 hour. Then add 6 cups of water in a pan, add some salt, 1 bay leaf and 2 Cinnamon sticks and some oil and allow it to boil. Then add rice and cook for 5 mins and drain the water immediately. 2. Pressure cook the green gram sprout in such a way that it does not get mashed up and the shape is retained. 2. Then in a pan, add oil and butter. Once the oil gets heated up, add Cumin seeds and allow it to splutter. Then add 2 Cinnamon sticks and 1 bay leaf, green chillies, turmeric powder and finely chopped onion and fry for sometime. Then add the ginger garlic paste and allow it to cook till the raw smell goes off. 3. Then add chopped tomatoes, Chilli powder, Coriander powder and Cumin powder. Once the tomatoes are cooked, add the cut potatoes (Potatoes can be cut in big pieces) and sprouts. 4. Add required salt and store bought biryani masala. In case biryani masala is not available, add garam masala and fry sometime. Potatoes and sprouts should be half cooked. 5. Then keep a big pan with water and over that keep another pan, spread one layer of cooked rice, over that add 1 layer of prepared masala and then 1 layer of rice etc... 6. At the end add chopped cilantro and close the lid for 45 mins.
