Description

Low calorie Rasam with Tomatoes and ginger. 1. soak tamarind in 1 cup water for 15 minutes and squeeze the tamarind water. 2. Boil the tomatoes in 3 cups of water for 5 minutes. Cool the water, remove the skin and mash the tomatoes with a hand held blender. 3. In a large saucepan, add 1 tsp ghee and add ginger, green chilles and curry leaves. Add the tomato. 4. Add the tamarind water. 5. Add salt, turmeric powder, hing powder, rasam powder. let it boil. 6. Add the cooked tur dal and 1tsp of brown sugar. 7. Remove from stove when about to boil.Add cilantro leaves 8. Add tadka with 1 tsp ghee, mustard seeds, jeera and 1 whole red chilli 9. Tastes best when prepared ahead of time and reheated and served.
