Description

Rice Upma - aka Arisi Upma is a quick and easy dish to make for dinner/lunch. 1) Grind 1 cup of rice coarsely in a mixer. This should be dry. Filter out the excess powder if it seems very powdery. Keep aside. 2) Grind Toor dal, Moong dal, pepper and jeera coarse and keep aside. 2) Heat a thick-based vessel; add oil, when hot - add the mustard seeds to splutter, add red chilly and curry leaves. 3) Add 2 cups water, when it comes to boil, add the grated coconut, ground dal mixture and salt. Stir well. Keep watching since it will come to boil and may over flow. 4) When this comes to boil - add the ground rice, keep stirring while you add to make sure there are no lumps of rice. 5) Once there are no lumps and the mix is done well, close the lid on, turn the flame to simmer and leave for 5 mins. 6) Keep checking every 2-3 mins and stir the mix well.
