This type of fish curry is famous in south tamilnadu. This curry is taken especially by feeding mothers. The ingredients used are all of medicinal values and increases the secretion of milk.

Recipe of Fish Karuthacurry

Ingredient Name Quantity Unit
Curry Leaves 10 Numbers
Fenugreek Seeds 0.25 Teaspoons
Shallots 10 Numbers
Salt To Taste
Carom Seeds 0.5 Teaspoons
Pepper Corns 0.5 Teaspoons
Mustard 0.5 Teaspoons
Oil To Fry
Coriander Powder 1 Teaspoons
Chilli Powder 1 Teaspoons
Coconut 200 Grams
Fish 500 Grams
Garlic 10 Clove


In a pan add mustard, fenugreek,carom seeds,pepper corns and fry for a minute. Keep aside. In the same pan add some oil, coconut, chilli powder, coriander powder, shallots, curry leaves and garlic. Fry till it turns to dark brown. Add all the fried items in a blender and mix to a fine paste. Add some oil in the pan and pour the mixture and some water. Simmer for 20 minutes. Now add the fish and simmer till the oil oozes out. Serve hot with white rice.
