Description : Oyako means "parent & child", and don is short for donburi which means "rice bowl". It may seem a cruel fate, but the parent and child is the chicken & egg in this dish!

Directions | How to make Oyakodon
 
Saute the chicken and onions together in a pan until browned. Add the Mirin, Soy Sauce, Dashi Base, sugar and water and boil on a medium heat covered. Once the chicken is fully cooked. While it is cooking, take the eggs and mix them just until the yolks break but do not completely mix them. You want to have both white and yellow color while it cooks with the chicken. Once mixed, sprinkle the egg mixture to the top of the chicken. On a very low heat cover until the eggs have been cooked on top of the chicken. You are now done! Top a bowl of rice with some sauce and chicken & egg.
Serving Ideas
You can top the chicken bowl with nori and chopped green onions.
