Ingredients used in sweet sour bittermelon karela
• Ginger &garlic paste - 1 tablespoons.
• Sugar - 1 tablespoons.
• Salt - to taste.
• Vinegar - 3 tablespoons.
• Roughly ground mustard paste - 1 tablespoons.
• Haldi powder - 1 teaspoons.
• Chilli powder - 2 teaspoons.
• Sliced onions - 2 piece.
• Bittermelon( karela) - 5 piece.
• Oil - 3 tablespoons.
Method:
Wash and slice the bitter melon in peices. Peel amp; slice onions, heat oil and fry the onions lightly, then add the haldi and chilli powder and fry , next add the mustard paste, ginger amp; garlic paste, vinegar, salt amp; sugar.Fry the spice mixture for a 2/3 minutes and add the sliced bitter gourd mix well add a little water and cover on a medium heat for a few minutes till cooked, *Do not over cook the vegatable as it should be crunchy . Serve hot with dal amp; rice or chappatis.
