Ingredients used in RADISH SAMBAR
• Mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Red chillies - 3-4 numbers.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Green chili - 4 numbers.
• Fenugreek seeds - 1 pinch.
• Asafoetida - 1 pinch.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Onion - 1 number.
• Radish(medium size) - 2-3 numbers.
• Tomatoes - 3-4 numbers.
• Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Cumin powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Red chili powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Coconut milk - 1/2 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Oil - 2-3 tablespoons.
• Tamarind juice - 1/2 cup.
• Toor dal - 1 cup.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds when they splutter and add red chili, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chili, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida, turmeric, onion slices saute it and add radish pieces cook this for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add tomatoes, the required amount of water, coriander powder, cumin powder, chili powder, coconut milk, put the lid on and let it cook for 20 minutes.
  • Add tamarind juice, once it comes to boil add toor dal (boiled), chopped coriander cook for 5 minutes then switch off the flame.

Serve this with rice.
