Ingredients used in Rasam
• Dal water - 1 cup.
• Pepper corns - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Tamarind juice - 1 cup.
• Tomatoes (chopped) - 1 cup.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Onion chopped - 1 number.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Green chilies (chopped) - 2 numbers.
• Red chilies - 2 numbers.
• Chili powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Sugar - 1 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Hing - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Garlic - 8 cloves.
• Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Cumin powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Ghee - 3 tablespoon.
• Urad dal - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Heat water in a container, in this add tomatoes, onions, green chillies, garlic, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, sugar, dal water, coriander leaves and tamarind juice, cook it for 30 minutes.
  • Take a pestle add pepper, cumin seeds and crush it, then add garlic again crush it.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add red chillies, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, urad dal, hing, curry leaves, crushed mixture mix it and transfer into a rasam, boil it for 15 minutes.

Now ready to serve rasam with rice.
