Description: Mutton stew cooked traditionally combining the juicy cubes of lamb or mutton tossed in seasoned flour, browned & blended with array of veggies like the potatoes, leeks, carrots and celery in one big hearty pot.

Recipe of Mutton Stew

Leeks And Celery(optional) 1 Teaspoons
Carrots/turnips 1 Numbers
Potatoes 2 Numbers
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 Tablespoons
Jaggery 1 Tablespoons
Coconut Milk 1/2 Cup
Flour 1 Teaspoons
Whole Garam Masala 4 Numbers
Curd 1/2 Cup
Chopped Onion 1 Numbers
Vinegar 1 Tablespoons
Black Pepper 5 Numbers
Gr Chilli 2 Numbers
Chopped Tomato 1 Numbers
Jeera 1 Teaspoons
Oil 2 Tablespoons
Mutton 500 Grams
Peas 1 Teaspoons


In a bowl take mutton add flour and mix.Take a pan add oil and mutton into let it cook till golden brown colour.
Once it is done take pressure cooker with little water into it and add the grilled muttion into it and cook till mutton is tender.
Take a pan add oil,bayleaf,masalas,onion,ginger garlic paste,poppy seeds paste,coconut powder and mix well let it cook for 2min now add tomatos chopped finely and mix well.Now add curd,coconut mik,vinegar,if you want add jaggery,green chillies and add all vegetables,water close with a lid and cook for 5-10 min.Now remove the lid once vegetables are cooked add cooked mutton into it and cook for 5min by closing with a lid in a very slow flame.lastly add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Thank you Sanjay!! your Stew recipe was finger licking fantastic... My whole family cleaned their plates with fingers alone :) (saved a lot of water ;)). Seriously though your recipe of stew and appam was great and we really enjoyed our Easter Sunday Breakfast royally Kerala Style! The only changes I made to the recipe was, I used white unpolished sesame seeds instead of poppy *as I did not have poppy seeds and did not use jaggery at all. But both the dishes were awesome to taste and finger-licking delicious! Thank you...

POPPY SEEDS PASTE - I have poppy seeds, but how do you make it paste.

The poppy seeds that u used for cooking, is there any other name. I'm sure the poppy u mentioned is not the same that people used as drug.
