Description: Sago rice jaggery payasam is a nice blend of sago (also known as sabudana, javarisi or tapioca pearl), rice cooked in milk and sweetened with a delicious golden velvety jaggery and sugar mix syrup; flavoured with the freshness of cardamom powder and topped with nuts (almonds, cashew nuts and raisins). The dish is a sweet delicacy that is prepared usually on festive occasions; rich in carbohydrates

Recipe of Sago Rice Jaggery payasam

Jaggery 2 Cup
Ghee 1 Tablespoons
Raisins 10 Piece
Cashew 10 Piece
Almonds 10 Piece
Sugar 1 Cup
Sago 1 Cup
Milk 1000 ml
Rice 2 Cup


1. first wash 2 cups of rice,i cup of sago an drain the water and transfer to the pressure cooker add water cook it for some time but not too mash,remove the lid of cooker an cook it again by adding milk in to it.
2.  In another bowl melt the jaggery by adding water le it come to one boil 
3. add melted jaggery in to the boiling rice mixture and cook it for some time.
4.  In a mean while take a pan add ghee fry cashew nuts,raisins,almonds till lightly colored.
5. add the dry fruits ,cardamom powder to rice jaggery mixture an switch off the flame.
