Ingredients used in TOMATO BATH WITH SEMOLINA OR SOOJI OR BOMBAI RAVVA
• Oil - as required.
• Water - as required.
• Green chillis - 6 no.
• Green peas(soaked and cooked) - half cup.
• Potato - 1 no.
• Brinjal or eggplant - half cup.
• Tomatoes - 1 big.
• Onions - 1 no.
• Semolina or sooji - 1 cup.
• Ghee - 2 tablespoons.
• Cashewnuts - 4 no.
• Coriander leaves or cilantro - half cup.
• Garam masala (optional) - half tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Urad dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Chana dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Red chilies - 3 no.
Method:
First keep a thick bottom pan on the stove and add the oil and put mustard seeds,cumin seeds,urad dal, chana dal red chilies and cashewnuts for Tempering. After they get fried add chopped onions and green chilies, saute for 2 minutes then add chopped tomatoes,brinjal and potatoes. Saute them for 5 minutes. Then add soaked and cooked green peas (NOT frozen) and water. When water starts boiling, add the sooji or semolina and keep stirring continuously till it cooked. Then switchoff the stove and add coriander leaves and ghee the tomato bath. Serve hot with any chutney or sauce.
