|Whole Moong Dal||2||Cup|

|Fine Sev/ Boiled Rice Noodles For Garnishing|
Soak all dals along with dry red chillies overnight. Now drain water and put dals in the mixer,add salt,green chillies and a little water.Grind to a paste ( not too coarse or too smooth.)(consistency of the mix should be slighlty thicker than the idli mix)Now steam the mix( just like idlis) in the idli maker.Once the whole mix is steamed let it cool and crumble it into fine pieces.(can do it in a mixer by pulse grinding)Now take a pan add 2 tsp of oil ,add mustard seeds ,cumin seeds,urad dal and curry leaves.Fry well and add chopped onions, fry till crisp.Now add the crumbled mix and fry well.Garnish with sev or boiled rice noodles.
Its a delicious and nutritious dish which my grandmother used to cook and serve.I made a few alterations to make more nutritious.My grandmother used to grind the paste and add directly into the tadka and fry till she gets the crumbled texture by adding lots of oil.So to avoid oil i steamed the mix and followed the process.She used only whole moong dal but i tried with more variety of dals. Finally i added sev for a crunchy feel.Can also add rice noodles for a different taste.
