Ingredients used in Malvani Masala
• Coriander seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Peppercorns - 2 numbers.
• Shahi jeera - 1 tea spoon.
• Red chillies - 2 numbers.
• Cinnamon sticks - 3-4 piece.
• Cardamom - 1 number.
• Oil - 2-3 teaspoons.
• Onions - 1 cup.
• Ground coconut - 1/4 cup.
Method:
  • In a hot pan add coriander seeds, peppercorns, shahijeera, red chillies, cinnamon sticks, cardamom dry roast it.
  • Once they are slightly cooked add oil, onions and saute it.
  • Once the onion color is changed add ground coconut and saute it.
  • Then switch off the flame and make into a paste by blending it.

Now the malvani masala is ready.

That looks like regular jeera. Is shahi jeera the same as kala jeera(Bunium persicum)?

+SubSalac  - No they are not same. Sahi Jeera is thinner and little longer than normal jeera. You can use normal jeera if you do not have sahi jeera. Ofcourse there is a subtle difference in aroma between both.?
