Description: A popular Indian dish consisting of chicken marinated in a mixture of yogurt and spices traditionally cooked in high temperatures in a tandoor (clay oven) and also can be prepared on a traditional barbecue grill.

Recipe of Tandoori Chicken

Ingredient Name Quantity Unit
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 Piece
Garam Masala Pdr 1 Teaspoons
Cumin Seed Powder 1 Teaspoons
Red Chili Powder 1 Teaspoons
Red Color 1 Teaspoons
Salt 1 Teaspoons
Turmeric 1 Teaspoons
Yogurt 6 Tablespoons
Chat Masala 1 To Taste
Coriander Powder 1 Teaspoons
Chicken Legs 6 Numbers
Kastoori Methi (dry Fenu Greek Leaves 1 Teaspoons
Lemon Juice 1 Tablespoons
Oil 2 Tablespoons
Peppercorns Pdr 1 Teaspoons

Directions

  • Clean and Cut 2 or 3 long slits on each piece. Apply salt, chilli pwdr and lime juice all over the chicken and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  • Make marination with coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilies, kasoorimethi, turmeric, garam masala pwdr, red color to a smooth paste. Add 1/2 tsp salt to the paste and mix well with yogurt.
  • Apply it all over the chicken making sure to apply well between all the slits and inside.
  • Preheat your oven to 425 degree Fahrenheit. Cook for 20 to 35 minutes till the chicken is tender.
  • Remove from oven and serve hot, garnished with sliced onions and lime wedges and also can be heated on griddle if serving later.

Hi Chef,
How long should the chicken be marinated??? Why this step is not included in the directions? I made this dish according to other Tandoori Chicken recipe, and it needs to marinate the chicken for 5 hours. how about your recipe?

Thnx alot chef fr sharing ua recpies wth us n when i cooked this tandoori chicken by followng ua recipe :D my family enjoyed while eating n meri family ne meri bht saari tarifein ki n ab tak maine ye dish bht baar banayi hai n m jst learning n i knw hw to cook but by following ua recipes m cooking perfectly... (y) :)

This is the best Tandoori recipe we have come scross but it doesn't tell you what to do with the oil. We painted it on for the last bit of the roasting but it didn'e take 2 tablespoons. Should some be in the marinade?
