Ingredients used in Munagaku Sambar
• Toor dal - 1 cup.
• Hing - as required.
• Turmeric powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Oil - as required.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Urad dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Dry red chillies - 3 number.
• Curry leaves - 3 springs.
• Onion (chopped) - 1 number.
• Drumstick / munagaku (chopped) - 1 number.
• Red chili powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Water - as required.
• Tamarind pulp - 1 cup.
• Tomatoes (chopped) - 2 number.
• Jaggery (grated) - 1 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
Method:
  • Boil toor dal by adding hing and turmeric powder tothe water.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, dry red chilies, curry leaves, hing , chopped onions, drumstick pieces and saute it.
  • Nowaddred chili powder, coriander powder, along with a cup of water and boil till half cooked.
  • Thenadd tamarind pulp, chopped tomatoes, jaggery, salt, give it a mix and cook itwith closed lid for about 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Transferboiled dal to the same pan, along with a cup of water and cook for few more minutes.
  • At last, add drumstick leaves and cook well.

Delicious Munagaku Sambar is now ready to serve.
