Ingredients used in Oats Bottle Gourd vada
• Oats - 1 ½ cup.
• Besan - ½ cup.
• Water - as required.
• Oil - to fry.
• Cumin seeds - ½ tea spoon.
• Carom seeds - ½ tea spoon.
• Red chilli flakes - 1 tea spoon.
• Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1 pinch.
• Bottle gourd(grated) - 2 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
Method:
Firstly, in a mixie jar take oats and grind it to make a fine powder. Take it in a bowl and add besan and a little water to it to make a thick slurry. Now in a pan add oil, when its hot add cumin seeds, carom seeds, red chili flakes, coriander powder, turmeric powder, grated bottle gourd, and salt. Mix it well and saute it for a minute. Add curry leaves and the oats slurry. Mix it continuously till it becomes a lump. Transfer it to a greased bowl. With the help of oil on your fingers set the lump by just pressing it. Keep it aside for 10minutes for resting. With the help of a knife transfer it on a plate upside down. Cut it into pieces starting from the centre. If the knife is sticking just dip the knife in water and then use it. When the pieces are ready to add oil in a hot pan and transfer all the pieces into the pan. Pan fry or shallow fry all the pieces on slow flame turning to all the sides till they turn golden in color. Switch off the flame when they become crispy. *Serve them hot with tomato sauce.*
