Ingredients used in Oats Bottle Gourd vada
• Oats - 1 ½ cup.
• Besan - ½ cup.
• Water - as required.
• Oil - to fry.
• Cumin seeds - ½ tea spoon.
• Carom seeds - ½ tea spoon.
• Red chilli flakes - 1 tea spoon.
• Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1 pinch.
• Bottle gourd(grated) - 2 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
Method:
  • Firstly, in a mixie jar take oats and grind it to make a fine powder. Take it in a bowl and add besan and a little water to it to make a thick slurry.
  • Now in a pan add oil, when its hot add cumin seeds, carom seeds, red chili flakes, coriander powder, turmeric powder, grated bottle gourd, and salt. Mix it well and saute it for a minute.
  • Add curry leaves and the oats slurry. Mix it continuously till it becomes a lump.
  • Transfer it to a greased bowl. With the help of oil on your fingers set the lump by just pressing it.
  • Keep it aside for 10minutes for resting. With the help of a knife transfer it on a plate upside down.
  • Cut it into pieces starting from the centre. If the knife is sticking just dip the knife in water and then use it.
  • When the pieces are ready to add oil in a hot pan and transfer all the pieces into the pan.
  • Pan fry or shallow fry all the pieces on slow flame turning to all the sides till they turn golden in color.
  • Switch off the flame when they become crispy.

Serve them hot with tomato sauce.
