Ingredients used in CHOW CHOW CHANNA DAL PORIYAL
• Chow chow - 200 grams.
• Ginger(small pieces) - 3 numbers.
• Coconut - ½ cup.
• Green chilli - 6 numbers.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Red chilies - 2 numbers.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Urad dal - ½ tea spoon.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Salt - to taste.
• Chana dal - ½ cup.
Method:
In a blender add ginger, fresh coconut and green chilli blend it like a coarse paste. Heat a pan add oil when oil is hot add mustard seeds.when mustard seeds splutter then add red chillies, cumin seeds, urad dal, curry leaves, a pinch of hing and chow chow vegetable pieces, salt mix it and cook this with the lid on. In this add prepared coconut and green chilli paste and also add chana dal (soaked and boiled) mix it well and cook it for 5 minutes with the lid on. Serve with rotis.
