Varan - simple Dal with Ghee Tempering

Ingredients used in Varan - simple Dal with Ghee Tempering
• Jaggery - 1 small piece.
• Salt - to taste.
• Turmeric powder - 1 pinch.
• Asafoetida - 1 pinch.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Ghee - 1 tablespoon.
• Toor dal (boiled) - 1 cup.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
• Green chillies - 2 numbers.
Method:
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, saute it.
  • When cumin seeds splutter, add green chilly, asafoetida, turmeric powder, saute it.
  • Then add boiled toor dal, jaggery, salt, once it comes to boil.
  • At last, add chopped coriander leaves, then switch off the flame.

Serve this hot with rice.
