Ingredients used in Shallots Baby Onion Garlic Sambar
• Sambar powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Oil - as required.
• Red chili powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Jaggery - 1 tea spoon.
• Baby onions - 15 number.
• Coconut milk - 1/2 cup.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Toor dal - 1 cup.
• Dry red chilies - 3 number.
• Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup.
• Green chilies - 3 number.
• Curry leaves - 3 springs.
• Hing - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Garlic - 5 number.
• Tomato (chopped) - 3 number.
• Tamarind pulp - 1 cup.
• Water - as required.
• Salt - to taste.
• Sambar powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Red chili powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Jaggery - 1 tea spoon.
• Coconut milk - 1/2 cup.
• Toor dal - 1 cup.
• Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup.
Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when they splutter, add cumin seeds, dry red chilies, green chilies, curry leaves, Hing, turmeric, garlic and saute well.
  • Add chopped tomatoes, tamarind pulp, water, salt and let it boil.
  • Now add sambar powder, red chili powder, jaggery, coconut milk and put on a lid and cook it.
  • Then add boiled Toor dal, cook for few more mins, add coriander leaves andgive it a mix.

Shallots Baby Onion Garlic Sambar is now ready to serve with hot rice.

Hi, I would really like to try making this but I can't view the video and the recipe does not mention how to prepare or when to add the onions. Please help as my aunt used to make a curry with these small onions and I hoping this sambar might help sa
