Ingredients used in Biyampindi Uppu Urundai
• Rice flour - 1 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Water - as required.
• Oil - as required.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Urad dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Chana dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Hing - pinch.
• Dry red chilies - 3 numbers.
• Curry leaves - 3 sticks.
• Coriander leaves ( chopped ) - 1 bunch.
• Peanuts - 1 tablespoon.
• Green chilies - 3 numbers.
• Onion ( chopped ) - 1 number.
• Brinjal ( chopped ) - 1 number.
• Tomatoes ( chopped ) - 1 number.
• Tamarind - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • Take rice flour in a bowl, add salt, water and mix well to prepare a thin batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, hing, dry red chilies, curry leaves.
  • Now transfer the prepared batter to the same pan and cook it for about 3 – 4 minutes.
  • Then cool it by switching off the flame and mix well by adding chopped coriander leaves.
  • Now shape the above prepared mixture into small balls and steam cook them using pressure cooker for about 10 minutes.

Pickle Preparation Method :

  • Dry roast peanuts, green chilies, chopped onion, brinjal pieces, salt (to taste), chopped tomatoes, and cook it for about 4 minutes.
  • Then add tamarind to it and grind to a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chilies, curry leaves, and sauté it.
  • Add the tempering to the above peanut paste.

Now serve hot Biyappindi Uppu Urdandai with peanut chutney.
