Ingredients used in Mutton with Turnips
• Mutton - 500 grams.
• Onions - 115 grams.
• Oil - as required.
• Turmeric - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Whole red chillies - 5 grams.
• Small turnips - 225 grams.
• Garlic - 2 cloves.
• Ginger - piece.
• Tomatoes - 115 grams.
• Cumin powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Water - as required.
Method:
  • Clean and cut mutton into even sized pieces.
  • Heat oil fry sliced onions add mutton, turmeric powder, cumin and lightly bruised whole red chillies.
  • Fry the meat for 10-15 minutes, stirring all the time. Add turnips and stir.
  • Grind garlic and ginger and mixed with blanched tomatoes. Add this to the meat.
  • Bring to boil, reduce flame, add salt and very small quantity of warm water.
  • Cover and cook on very gentle heat till meat is tender. Add more water if necessary.

I was looking for Shub Daigh recipe and found your recipe. Shub Daigh is cooked on very light fire for whole night. It also has Ghur or sugar as an ingredient. I await your comment.
