Thummi Kura Pachadi or Thummi chutney is a special dish made only on Vinayaka Chaturthi and not eaten on any other time during the entire year, as far as I know, unless medicinally prescribed.

Ingredients used in THUMMI KURA PACHADI
• Thummi kura leaves - 1 cup.
• Tender tamarind - 25 grams.
• Green chillies - 7 no.
• Urad dal - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Chana dal - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Curry leaves - 1 springs.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Salt - to taste.
Method:
  • Boil water in a pan, add thummi kura leaves, salt and boil it for 3 minutes and strain it.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add urad dal, chana dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and saute it and transfer tempering into a bowl.
  • In same oil pan, add boiled thummi kura leaves and saute it for 2 minutes.
  • Take a mixie jar, add tender tamarind, green chillies, thummi kura leaves, salt and blend into coarse paste.
  • Transfer into above bowl and mix tempering ingredients nicely.

Now Thummi Kura Pachadi is ready to serve with steamed modak.
