Tamarind Rice Recipe, How To Make Tamarind Rice Recipe

Tamarind rice also popularly known as Pulihora or Puliyodhara or Chitrannam is a common rice preparation in South Indian cuisine The tamarind rice or pulihora tastes sour, spicy hot and salty all at the same time.

Lemon Rice is among the several rice recipes which are an integral part of South Indian Delicacies. It's a delicious tangy twist to plain white rice. Lemon Rice is a superb vegetarian recipe idea which in my word is really a "wonderful utilization of remaining rice". Also you can use fresh steam rice for this recipe, but leftover always taste better.

Lemon Rice is amongst the staples of South Indian houses as well as Temples for their Prasadam. It is a special rice indeed, with slightly spicy rice preparation which has a delightful tang through the lemon, stunning golden color from turmeric along with a nutty essence through the lentils and peanuts. This lime rice may also be made to be a tiffin box or for a picnic lunch. It is a light food kids will love the most.

Having leftover rice from the previous day is very common in many households. The first planning comes to mind is fried rice with vegetables and eggs.  There is no need of any vegetables or egg for lemon rice. In fact, you can make this when you are running out of your pantry stock. Lemon rice is actually a well-known dish originating from South of India and it is identified under several different names, like Turmeric Lemon rice, Pulihora or Chitrana.

This lemon rice goes so well with grilled chicken or fish. This makes an ideal companion to the grilled meats and veggies.  Provide it as a meal, side dish or even as a light main dish.

A few of the other styles of rice from the South are Tamarind Rice, Coconut Rice, Yogurt/Curd Rice, Sesame Rice, Tomato Rice.
